Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Kupchyna pays a visit to Slovenia

On June 22, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Alena Kupchyna, pays a visit to Slovenia.


In the course of the visit, A.Kupchyna held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, Karl Erjavec.


The sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached following the official visit of K.Erjavec to Belarus in March 2016. Special attention was paid to the promotion of bilateral economic and investment cooperation. Taking into consideration the Chairmanship of Belarus in the Central European Initiative in 2017, the parties discussed the collaboration of the two countries in the regional organization with the focus on the project activity. The sides reached an agreement to intensify and promote political dialogue between the two countries.


During the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Belarus with the Head of the Group of Friendship Slovenia-Belarus in the Slovenian Parliament, Marko Ferluga, and the Chairman of the Commission on International Cooperation, Jozef Horvat, the sides discussed the activation of interparliamentary contacts and regional cooperation.


The Deputy Minister briefed M.Ferluga on the preparation to holding parliamentary elections in Belarus. A.Kupchyna noted that the representatives of authoritative international organizations were invited to monitor the upcoming elections. The sides agreed to strengthen Belarus-Slovenia relations in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as cooperation in the frame of international organizations, our countries are members of, by means of parliamentary diplomacy.


As the Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Belarus-Slovenia Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, A.Kupchyna held a meeting with the Co-Chairman of the Commission from the Slovenian side – the Director-General of the Directorate for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tomaz Lovrencic.

On the same day, Ljubljana hosted first session of the Belarusian-Slovenian Working Group on agriculture and Consultations between the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus and Slovenian Investment Agency SPIRIT.


During the meeting of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus with the State Secretary of the MFA of Slovenia, Darja Bavdaz Kuret, the parties discussed the issues regarding the Belarusian-Slovenian agenda, the promotion of the dialogue between Belarus and the EU, collaboration in the frame of international organizations, as well as promising joint events with the support of the Development Fund of the MFA of Slovenia. The Slovenian side presented its’ decision to prolong till 2021 the current bilateral programme on health care rehabilitation of Belarusian children in Slovenia. The programme is operating since 2012 under the frame of relevant intergovernmental agreement.
