Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus A.Kupchyna had meetings in MFA of Hungary

On June 29-30, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Alena Kupchyna, who is currently on a visit to Hungary, held a number of meetings with the Executive Staff of the Minstry of Foreign Affairs of this country.


On June 30, during the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation with an emphasis on the expansion of economic cooperation and strengthening of Belarus-EU dialogue.


Special attention was paid to the implementation of the Program of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Hungary for 2016 — the first half of 2017, that was signed by the Foreign Ministers in March 2016 during the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, to Hungary, as well as the implementation of agreements reached during the visit.

The sides discussed the development of the situation in the region, strengthening of cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the context of the European crisis, and agreed approaches to the expansion of bilateral political dialogue in the light of the upcoming in 2017 Belarus' Presidency of the Central European Initiative.


On the same day, the Belarusian and Hungarian delegations headed by Deputy Minister Alena Kupchyna and the Deputy State Secretary of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Zsolt Csutora, held another round of consultations between the Foreign Ministries.

During the consultations, the sides discussed the whole range of issues of the Belarusian-Hungarian political cooperation, the possibility of expansion of cooperation in cultural, educational and humanitarian spheres, strengthening of bilateral legal base, the agenda of Belarus-EU dialogue, as well as the intensification of contacts in the frame of international and regional organizations. Special attention was paid to the possibility of implementation of joint economic, trade and investment projects. The sides agreed to take coordinated steps and hold in 2017 joint activities dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Hungary.


As the Co-chair of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Hungarian commission for economic cooperation, A.Kupchyna also held a meeting with the State Secretary of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, László Szabó, the Co-chair of the Commission from the Hungarian side.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of trade and economic relations and investment cooperation between Belarus and Hungary, the interim results of the implementation of the agreements reached during previous meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the preparations for the next 7th meeting of the Commission and the bilateral business forum to be held in Minsk in the end of September 2016.

The parties noted with satisfaction holding of the first meeting of the Working Group on Scientific and Technological Cooperation, established under the Intergovernmental Commission, and the visit of the Hungarian delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture to Belarus to participate in the exhibition “Belagro — 2016” and sign a memorandum of cooperation in agriculture.

During the meeting with the Secretary of State of the MFA of Hungary, the sides reached an agreement to give priority during the preparation of the 7th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission to such areas of bilateral cooperation as credit and finance, pharmaceutics, construction, tourism, innovations, as well as to the strengthening of cooperation in the health industry.
