On the visit of the Ambassador of Belarus H.E. Mr. Aliaksandr Khainouski to Szolnok

The exhibition “Belarusian Icon Painting of the 17th-18th Centuries” opened in Szolnok, Hungary on 17 June.

Partaking in the presentation of the expo was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary Aliaksandr Khainouski. He stressed that the exposition of the Belarusian icons demonstrates the features of the national art and Belarus' contribution to the world culture. Attending the event were representatives of the Szolnok City Hall, cultural and public figures.

The exposition comprises 30 unique masterpieces of the Belarusian icon painting. The icons are displayed in Central and Eastern Europe for the first time. From late April until mid June the expo was on show at the Budapest History Museum. After Szolnok the expo will travel to Kecskemet. The general partner of the exhibition is Alfa-bank in Minsk.

Ambassador Aliaksandr Khainouski also met with Szolnok Mayor Ferenc Szalay. The parties discussed the prospects in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Apart from that, the Ambassador visited the plant producing wagons for Stadler Rail electric trains. The plant is situated in the Szolnok industrial park.
