Intergovernmental Belarusian-Slovenian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation

On June 22-23, 2016 Ljubljana hosted the sixth session of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Slovenian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation. The Belarusian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alena Kupchyna, the Slovenian delegation was led by the Director General for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tomaz Lovrencic.

During the session, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including interaction in the spheres of agriculture, industry, transport, innovations, tourism and education. Special attention was paid to the improvement of mechanisms for the mutual promotion and protection of investments. Following the results of the session, the sides signed final Protocol.

The State Production Association “Belenergo” and the Slovenian company “Riko” signed Memorandum of Understanding on promising cooperation under the frame of implementation of projects in the sphere of energy in the Republic of Belarus, Republic of Slovenia and third countries.

Within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission, the first session of the Belarusian-Slovenian Working Group on Agriculture was held. As the Co-Chair of the Group, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Vladimir Grakun, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of Slovenia signed the Protocol of the session.

The representatives of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus discussed with their colleagues from the Slovenian investment agency SPIRIT possible ways of effective cooperation.

On the same day the Belarusian-Slovenian Business Forum, organized under the auspices of the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries, was held. The event was attended by Belarusian and Slovenian companies, interested in the promotion of cooperation.
