On the visit of Ambassador A. Ponomarev to Croatia

On January 30 — February 2, 2020 H.E. Aleksandr Ponomarev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary and the Republic of Croatia (with residence in Budapest) held the working visit to Croatia.

On January 30, in the city of Zagreb, A. Ponomarev participated in a working lunch, organized by the ex-president of Croatia Stjepan Mesić on the occasion of the election of the new president of the country Zoran Milanović. During the event the Ambassador had a detailed conversation with Davor Bernandić, the chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia, the newly elected president belongs to. The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission also discussed with S. Mesić the progress in implementing the arrangements reached during the visit of the Croatian politician to Minsk in October last year.

On January 31, A. Ponomarev visited the city of Split, where he held a series of meetings with business circles of the Dalmatian region. The prospects of establishing regional cooperation and enhancing tourist exchange were discussed. The Belarusian Ambassador gave an interview to the newspaper “Slobodna Dalmacija” – the largest media outlet in the region.

On February 1, A. Ponomarev visited the city of Rijeka, where he took part in the official opening ceremony of “Rijeka 2020 — the European Capital of Culture”. On the sidelines of the event, the Ambassador met with Mayor of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel, who confirmed his interest in visiting Gomel in 2020 as the head of business delegation.
