Diplomatic relations between Republic of Belarus and Republic of Slovenia were established on 23rd of July 1992.
The Embassy of Belarus in Hungary is accredited to Slovenia from Hungary. Ambassador of Belarus to Slovenia Mr.Aliaksandr Khainouski presented credentials to President of Slovenia on 15th of February 2013.
The Embassy of Slovenia in Russian Federation is also accredited to Belarus. Ambassador of Slovenia to Belarus Mr. Primož Šeligo presented credentials on 16th of December 2013.
Accreditation of the Embassy of Belarus to Slovenia (with residence in Budapest) from December 2008 and follow up activities with aim to promote political and economic dialogue intensified Belarusian-Slovenian relations.
In June 2009 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Samuel Žbogar paid a working visit to Minsk. He was accompanied by Slovenian business delegation. In April 2010 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Mr.Sergei Martynov paid a reciprocal visit to Slovenia.
Since 2009 regular political and interministerial consultations on a level of deputy ministers were renewed. In 2014-2016 agenda of these consultations was significantly extended (consular consultations, consultations between analysis and multilateral departments took place).
On 25th of March 2016 Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Mr.Karl Erjavec paid an official visit to Minsk. During his visit he met with President, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
Slovenia maintains strong interest to development of relations with Belarus. Slovenia supports an intense bilateral political, economic and humanitarian dialogue as well as cooperation on multilateral field.
An interparliamentary cooperation between two countries develops fast in recent years. Group of friendship with Belarus was created in Parliament of Slovenia in December 2015. In the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus also exists a Friendship group with Slovenia.
