On official visit of H.E. Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, to Hungary

On March 16-17, 2016, H.E. Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, payed the official visit to Hungary.

 

Minister V.Makei had fruitful talks with H.E. Mr.Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

The sides discussed actual status and perspectives of development of Belarusian-Hungarian relations, interaction of Belarus and Hungary in the framework of international organizations, Belarus-EU dialogue.

Ministers focused on activization of trade, economic and investment ties between our two countries. Agriculture, food processing, mechanical engineering, pharmaceutics, innovations, telecommunication, construction and tourism where defined as priority spheres in bilateral economic relations. The sides also discussed ways to increase investments and credit cooperation, expansion of interaction in banking sphere.

The Ministers signed Cooperation Programme between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Hungary. The document envisages a number of joint actions and events and represents a road map for bilateral relations’ development for one year period.

The Ministers also inaugurated in the hall of MFA of Hungary the mobile exhibition “Belarus and Belarusians”, prepared by the National historic museum of the Republic of Belarus.

In the framework of the visit Minister V.Makei had a meeting with Mr.Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary. The sides discussed economic, humanitarian and cultural topics of bilateral relations.

During his meeting with Mr.Sándor Lezsák, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary and Head of Belarus-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group, Minister Makei discussed perspectives of strengthening the contacts between two Parliaments.

Minister Makei gave an interview to the Hungarian daily newspaper “Magyar Hírlap”.

Minister Makei also held a meeting with representatives of the Hungarian big companies, interested in organizing business in Belarus.
