On the commemorative medals awards ceremony

On June 29, 2020, commemorative medals awards ceremony took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Hungary. Hungarian citizens Béla Puskás and Alexander Gorbenko were awarded with “75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic war 1941-1945” medals.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary Alexander Ponomarev during the ceremony noted their significant contribution to perpetuate the memory of Soviet soldiers at memorial burials in the regions of Somogy and Fejér.

Béla Puskás and A. Gorbenko are the “custodians” of the burial places of Soviet soldiers in these areas, regularly organize events dedicated to the memory of Soviet soldiers, and also conduct research on revealing the names of Soviet soldiers who died, liberated Hungary. At the largest military burial site of this regions in Kaposvar and Szekesfehervar rest 5.5 thousand Soviet soldiers.
