Diplomatic relations between Republic of Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) were established on 22nd of November 1993.
Since March 2014 Ambassador of Belarus in Hungary Mr.Aliaksandr Khainouski also accredited as Ambassador of Belarus to BiH.
BiH in Belarus is represented by the Embassy of BiH in Russian Federation.
In November 1998 an November 2003 in a framework of events organized by Central European Initiative took place meetings between heads of governments of Belarus and BiH. Ministers of foreign affairs met on June 1997 in Sarajevo. Interministerial consultation on a deputy foreign ministers level took place in October 2007 in Minsk. In December 2008 parliamentary delegation of BiH headed by President of a Chamber of Representatives of the Parliament of BiH visited Belarus.
Since 2015 contacts between two countries became regular. Ministers of foreign affairs of Belarus and BiH Mr.Vladimir Makei and Mr.Igor Crnadak met on December 2015 during OSCE Ministerial meeting in Belgrade. During the meeting ministers signed a bilateral agreement on visa free regime for holders of diplomatic and service passports.
On 22nd of April 2016 after long break consultations between ministries of foreign affairs took place in Minsk. Belarusian delegation was headed by Ms.Alena Kupchyna, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Bosnian – by Mr.Josip Brkić, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
