On Solemn Events of April 7, 2025 and Interim Results of the Embassy's Memorial Activities
08.04.2025On 7 April 2025, a number of solemn events were held to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism.
Uladzimir Ulakhovich, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary, took part in the ceremony of laying wreaths at the monument to Soviet soldiers in Freedom Square in Budapest on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Hungary's complete liberation from Nazism.
Then, at the Russian Cultural Centre in Hungary, the heads of the Embassies of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on military-memorial issues. The parties agreed on joint military-memorial activities, continuation of cooperation in the field of maintaining order of burial sites of Soviet soldiers, monuments, memorial complexes, establishing personal information and burial sites of soldiers and civilian victims of the war who died on the territory of Hungary, as well as preservation of historical memory.
At the end of the ceremony, the ‘Memory Book of the Heirs of Victory’ was opened at the RCC. The first entries in the ‘Book of Memory’ were left by the Ambassadors who signed the Memorandum. On the pages of the Book until 9 May everyone can share their feelings and thoughts about the heroic and tragic events of 1941-1945.
Ahead of the performance of the play ‘Don't Leave Me’ by Alexei Dudarev, Ambassador Uladzimir Ulakhovich addressed the audience. The Ambassador introduced the spectators to the work of the Belarusian playwright, thanked the theatre workshop ‘Artist’ and its artistic director Natalia Galieva for the production. The play was presented in Russian with Hungarian subtitles and left no one indifferent.
The day of 7 April marked an important milestone in the Embassy's cycle of events dedicated to celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and commemorating the events of World War II:
