Bilateral relations

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) were established on November 22, 1993.

Since March 2014 the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Hungary is accredited to Bosnia and Herzegovina. BiH in Belarus is represented by the Embassy of BiH in Russian Federation.

In June 2019 Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik paid his first visit to the Republic of Belarus to participate in the opening ceremony of the II European Games. M.Dodik met with President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and Prime Minister Sergei Rumas. On 19 September 2019 the delegation from the Republika Srpska of BiH, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, visited Minsk. 

In January 2024, on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Uganda, a meeting was organized between Sergei Aleinik, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, and Željka Cvijanović, Serb Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In February 2024, a visit by Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska of BiH, to Belarus was organized. During the visit, meetings were held with H.E. Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, and Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.

In May 2024, a visit by Alexander Rogozhnik, Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus, to Banja Luka (Republika Srpska of BiH) was organized. Negotiations were held with the leadership of Republika Srpska of BiH, and a Memorandum on the supply of Belarusian tractors was signed.

Interparliamentary cooperation continues to develop. In March 2025, a visit to Minsk was organized for Srebrenka Golić, Chairperson of the Council of Peoples of Republika Srpska of BiH, and other representatives of the Parliament of Republika Srpska. During the visit, meetings were held with Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, and Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

In October 2025, a visit to Belarus by Milorad Dodik, President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats of Republika Srpska of BiH, was organized for his participation in the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.

In June 2025, a visit to Belarus by Savo Minić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republika Srpska of BiH, was organized. The programme included participation in the Belagro 2025 International Agricultural Exhibition, as well as meetings with Yuri Gorlov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Mikhail Myatlikov, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Sergei Avramenko, Director General of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ).

Cooperation in the healthcare sector continues to expand. Following visits by Oleg Rummo, Director of the Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology, to Banja Luka in April 2024, and Alen Šeranić, Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska of BiH, to Brest in April 2026, six cooperation agreements were signed in the field of transplantology, as well as on scientific, educational and innovation cooperation in surgery, hematology and intensive care medicine.

In 2025, cooperation between cultural and educational institutions was further strengthened. The National Library of Belarus and the National and University Library of Republika Srpska of BiH implemented a book exchange project. Cooperation was also established between the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee and the East Ilidža School in Istočno Sarajevo in the field of war memorial activities.
