Ambassador of Belarus A.Ponomarev visits the Republic of Croatia

On March 14-17, 2021 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Croatia Aleksandr Ponomarev payed working visits to Split and Rijeka, Croatia.

On 14 March, A.Ponomarev solemnly presented commemorative medals «75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders» to Croatian citizens Antun Baranović and Palmina Poliak for their significant contribution to the anti-fascist movement in the Dalmatia region.

On March 15, the official opening of the office of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Split with a consular district covering the entire Dalmatia region took place.  The official opening ceremony was attended by former President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesić, regional leaders, representatives of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and business circles.

During his visit to Rijeka, Aleksandr Ponomarev met with the head of the branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Primorsko-Goranska Jupania, professor Heri Bezić, and representatives of the business community interested in establishing contacts with Belarusian partners. 

In the course of the negotiations with Rijeka University Rector S. Prijić-Samaržija, the management of Split University, the parties discussed the prospects of inter-university cooperation and intensification of cooperation in the field of education.
