Celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus

On June 28, 2024, the official reception was held in Budapest on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus — Day of the Republic, the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders.

Uladzimir Ulahovich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Hungary, welcomed the guests.

In his statement he focused on the importance of preserving the historical memory about the Great Patriotic War, the fight of Belarusians and the whole Soviet people against fascism, the high price paid for the victory. He also focused on the current achievements of the Republic of Belarus in the main fields of science and industry.

Attention was drawn to the relevance of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to carry on the active dynamics of Belarus-Hungary cooperation on a wide range of issues on the basis of traditional friendship, trust and mutual understanding.

The event was attended by the heads of political and public organizations, representatives of state and local government bodies, about forty heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Budapest, businessmen and compatriots. As a part of the reception, the guests were presented with an exhibition of works by Belarusian artist Oksana Bodish.
